Hairspray auditions online

Believe it or not, there are some Hairspray auditions online. Most of the are audio auditions. I have seen casting calls posted on youtube and many people sending in their video and audio auditions online. Some are for their video projects, others are for voice over projects and the rest are just to cast people to their theater production. Last year, there was a casting call for the youtube version of the play. My friend who was on the show elected me to play the role of Motormouth Maybelle, who I really wanted to play in the first place. I have worked my ass off learning the lines, memorizing it, practicing the songs, recording my voiceovers for about three. Just to find out at the last minute that they just picked someone else to play that part. So all that time, I was nothing but a place holder for that production. I may not have theater acting experience but I can sing the hell out of the Maybelle songs and I got enough sass and pizzaz to do it, but they don't think I'm fabulous enough to play her. I guess that particular audition is just for professionals and not amateurs. Was I crushed by it? Yes, for a little while because I wanted it so bad. What did I do after that? Well, in August that year, I decided to re-record my vocals on Big, Blonde And Beautiful,I Know Where I've Been and the Maybelle part of You Can't Stop The Beat. I did 16 takes on each song. As soon as I buy a new digital camera, I will videotape myself auditioning for the role, re-record my Maybelle voiceover audio and post both of them online. And I will keep up at it until someday, someone big will accept me as Motormouth Maybelle. In the meantime, I'll settle for being the voiceover for the Sims 2 or 3 version of Hairspray. It's better than nothing,besides I like the Sims games. Just in case the Sims 2 or Sims 3 version of Hairspray is canceled or someone else already got the role of Maybelle in their production. Then I make my production, my way. Nobody's stopping my beat.
